Ishikawa Diagram

The Ishikawa or fishbone diagram aims to identify possible causes for a problem. It helps by sorting out ideas into useful categories. In successive layers of detail, the root cause is broken down.


The main problem is put into the head of the fish while major problems extend as rib bones from the back bone. Root causes are then put into sub branches of the major causes.
